A big part of her life’s journey has been to support and encourage young people in the community and in her family to complete their high school education, attend college and to pursue their dreams in life. Always with an open door, open heart and willingness to help others, she lifted many people up and encouraged them to work hard at achieving their goals in life.
The Joann Jones-Gore Scholarship Fund has been established by her son Robert W. Jones (Manny) to grant scholarships to graduating high school students and existing diverse college students from the cities of Charleston and Chesapeake in West Virginia, who are attending West Virginia State University, maintain a grade point average of 3.0, have demonstrated character in and out of the classroom and service in the community, and who need financial assistance to begin or continue their university education.
