WHAT UP DOE Alumni,

Get ready to experience the energy, culture, and soul of Detroit as we gather for the 27th National Alumni Conference, April 21–25, 2027. Known for its rich history, iconic music legacy, world-class food scene, and vibrant arts and entertainment, Detroit provides the perfect backdrop for a weekend of connection, celebration, and unforgettable experiences.

Our conference theme, “Built by Legacy. Sustained by Succession,” honors the generations who built the foundation of West Virginia State University while inspiring us to invest in the future. From meaningful conversations to lively social events, this conference is designed to reconnect you with classmates, classmates-turned-family, and the broader alumni network.

New for 2027: we’re excited to host the first-ever HBCU Bowling Challenge as part of our conference experience! This high-energy event brings together HBCU alumni from Detroit and the surrounding metro area for friendly competition, bragging rights, and community pride. Come out, wear your Yellow Jacket paraphernalia, represent West Virginia State University, and compete against fellow HBCU alumni. Let’s show up strong, have some fun, and bring home the trophy!

Early registration offers discounted pricing and includes conference materials, two alumni breakfasts, an awards luncheon, dinner, and the signature Yellow Jacket Takeover All-White Party—all set against the dynamic backdrop of one of America’s most resilient and creative cities.

No matter where life has taken you, Detroit is the place to come back together. We invite you to remain an active, engaged part of West Virginia State University’s alumni family, celebrating our shared history while building the next chapter—together.
