Join me as we welcome new and returning students for the spring semester! Our future alumni are adjusting and still thriving, even in the current state of the pandemic. The hybrid learning methods are still in place this semester to maintain the safety of all students, faculty, and staff.
As your Alumni Director, I am excited to share that our 130th Founders Day is on the horizon. We are in the process of preparing a wonderful virtual celebration to memorialize the Place We Love So Dear!
Happy New Year, Yellow Jackets,

WVSU Yellow Jackets on the move
Barbara Jean Reynolds, an alumna from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, has remained an avid adventurer. Ms. Reynolds graduated from WVSU in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics.
She has visited over eight countries in Africa and the Caribbean. Among her favorite countries are South Africa and Ghana. She still enjoys international travel and looks forward to a post-COVID environment that will allow her to continue her international adventures. This past year, she spent four months in Ethiopia, where her daughter lives and works. Among her favorite outings were site visits within the capital-Addis Ababa, attending the annual Marine Ball, and a luncheon with the United States Ambassador to Ethiopia. She has also visited neighboring Kenya for the first time and learned a few Kiswahili words to greet new friends.
Roslyn Clark Artis, an alumna from Beckley, West Virginia, currently living in Columbia, South Carolina, has been making some major headlines for 2020 and 2021! She was named President of the Year at HBCU Benedict College, from Higher Ed Dive, and Congressman Jim Clayburn recently nominated Dr. Artis to serve on a national committee that works with the Secretary of Education!
Dr. Artis is a 1991 graduate from WVSU with her degree in Political Science. She later pursued her Juris Doctorate from WVU College of Law and her EdD from Vanderbilt University.
