Agricultural Research Agreement  

West Virginia State University signed a lease and facility use agreement for Agricultural Research faculty to utilize field and high tunnel space at the West Virginia Department of Agriculture's Lakin Farm. The partnership will also offer internships and other academic enrichment opportunities within the Department of Agriculture to students. 

 
WVSU's Master of Biotechnology  

 

 

West Virginia State University's Master of Biotechnology program has been ranked 27th in the nation for 2023 by Intelligent.com. The company also recognized the program for Best Student-Faculty Ratio. Click here to read more.

 
WVSU Partnering With Concord University for Master's in Social Work Program  


 

West Virginia State University's Department of Social Work is partnering with Concord University's Master of Social Work to establish an articulation agreement for a more efficient transfer of students from undergraduate studies at WVSU to Concord's graduate program. Click here to read more. 

 
WVSU Cybersecurity Grant Awarded  


 

West Virginia State University, in partnership with Marshall University, has received $1.5 million from the U.S. Department of Education to help establish a Cyber Security Center for Critical Infrastructure at each university. Click here to read more. 

 

Presidential Inauguration and the Ninth Annual Black & Gold Gala

 

 

 

The Presidential Inauguration and the Ninth Annual Black & Gold Gala will be held April 13 and 14, 2023, at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center. During the Gala, we will honor Robert F. Smith of Student Freedom Initiative, Dr. Ann Brothers Smith,'64, The Honorable Reggie B. Walton, '71, and Allan L. McVey, '73.

WVSU National Alumni Association's National Conference  
 

WVSU alumni and friends are invited to join us for the 25th WVSUNAA Conference that will be held in Baltimore, MD, at the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel on April 20-23, 2023. Building on WVSUNAA's prevailing theme:The Pipeline to Leadership: It Starts at STATE, this year's conference theme, A Paradigm Shift: Times Are Changing and so Should We will provide a series of workshops, presentations from WVSU university leaders and networking events that will keep attendees engaged. Alumni Spotlight   


 

Coach Bryan Poore, '88, the WVSU Men's Basketball Head Coach, led the team and defeated the Tusculum Pioneers in the championship game of the YES U.S. Virgin Islands Classic, 73-59. The victory was Coach Poore's 400th victory of his collegiate head coaching career. Click here to read more.

 
WVSU Chapter Spotlight   


 

The WVSU National Alumni Association, Charlotte Alumni Chapter, collected and donated coats to WSOC TV Channel 9's program Steve's Coats for Kids. These dedicated chapter members are a powerful force in their community and made a positive impact to those in need in their hometown during the holidays. Way to go, Yellow Jackets!

WVSU Custom License Plate Campaign   


 

Calling all West Virginia Alumni and Friends! The WVSU Office of Alumni Relations recently launched a statewide collegiate license plate campaign. Students, alums, faculty, staff, and friends of West Virginia State University will soon be able to showcase their school spirit wherever the road may take them. The special WVSU license plate has received DMV approval; however, 250 license plates must be pre-ordered and paid for by April 21, 2023, in order for production to start.
