WVSU Homecoming Highlights

Homecoming 2022 went down as one of our best ever!  The University honored two former presidents as part of our Homecoming activities. A new presidential portrait of eighth president Dr. Thomas W. Cole, Jr., painted by Frederick Hightower, was unveiled in a ceremony at the Cole Complex. Ninth president Dr. Hazo W. Carter, Jr., and former first lady, Judge Phyiis H. Carter were honored with the naming of a building and its surrounding complex in their honor.

The Class Reunion dinner saw a fantastic turnout this year as we honored multiple class years following the pandemic. The Paul & Malinda Smiley Family Trust donated $100,000 to the Glover L. Smiley Jr. Endowed Scholarship Fund, which will help the students of WVSU create a future as bright as Glover's smile.

The tailgate and game were huge successes, with tons of food and fellowship. The Yellow Jackets Football team defeated WV Wesleyan 46-21!

The WVSU Homecoming boat ride was a massive event that rocked the waters of the Kanawha River, complete with Fireworks to draw the evening to a close.

Thank you to everyone who returned to the place we love so dear to celebrate with us! We look forward to seeing you in 2023!
